OTHERS ⚽️

I am writing this in the middle of April and all I can remember is that the beginning of 2021 was a complete mess. Here in Portugal we got on lockdown in the end of January and only last week we started to being able to do kinda normal life things, that of course had a huge impact on my mental health and how I persive and remember things. I was super down and watching TV was pretty much what I did, also lots of tik tok. More recently, in the end of March I got my attention on the F1 season and football, and also I have been journaling quite frequently.

Peace, Joana
I was never a big fan of Valentines day but since I've been wanting to make this post for a while I thought it would make sense to post it today.
So here are my all time favourite couples on tv, from Netflix series to Brazilian soap operas.

I do love a couple with tons of chemistry and a good dose of drama. We all grown ups and I do know how to differentiate a tv relationship from a real one (not that I ever had one), but before anyone starts the "this couples are toxic" speech, yap that's my jam apparently. At least for fave couples.

May I say that some of this might contain spoilers to the shows itself!

Romena (Romero & Atena) - A Regra Do Jogo

Two moraly gray people, you might even consider them villains at the beginning of the soap opera, two people that don't want to fall in love. Long story short, they are pure chemistry, they are crime and love, they lied to each other but when found out the true were already in too deep. They try to kill each other, but also have the hottest sex scenes, 10/10 my all time fave couple.

Jessica & Justin - 13 reasons why

For those that watched the series we know this relationship is really troubled but I think they really loved each other and that they would do pretty much anything to protect each other from wtv the world might throw to them. For me they were endgame from minute 1.

Noorhelm (Noora & William) - Skam

Some fans of the series say they are toxic I see a relationship of two very different people changing each other for better. Noora isn't perfect, William has a huge improvement with her and they have that amazing chemistry. Soft "enemies" to lovers trope, how not to love?

Carol & Marcos - El Internado Laguna Negra

One doesn't forget their first love. I am now rewatching el internado and I can see why people prefer other couples that I do like too. But my younger self knew what a otp was with these two and I will always shipp them, because fave series and a lifetime of loving this couple.

Carla & Samuel - ร‰lite

The chemistry. The "indiference" to "play games" to fall in love plot. The unexpected factor. In my mind they are endgame.
I live in a bubble of s2 only and is all about these fucking chemistry.

Fabine (Giane & Fabinho) - Sangue Bom

Another one from a Brazilian soap opera, these two are enemies to lovers and the lovers they are. These two actors have an amazing chemistry so with these characters it was obvious that they would made a memorable couple.

There are many more couples I ship, so like I did with the post about my favourite characters I hope to be back soon with another one of these ❤

Love, Joana ๐Ÿค

Friday, 29th of January 2021 - 06:27 GMT

Outside there is still no sun, I just drank some hot chocolate milk that had the effect on me of a beer, insomnias, lockdown, anxiety ... I need to write, no one might read it but I need to put the words out.

At the end of 2020 I had a thousand plans for not.so.secret.scriptures but I should know better that plans don't always turn into something... the funny thing is that through the ups and downs of one of our generations' (even our parents generation) years I found something I was looking for for at least 12 years. I found self love, as shallow as it is, physical self love.
I have psoriasis and so what??? Thank you Georgia Harris for making me feel reflected, understood and for the first time in 12 years with psoriasis not giving a damn. Excuse my self esteem or not but I am fucking beautiful.

At the end of last year I understood so many things but no one can have it all figured out at 22, damn I wanna keep on making mistakes, that means I am alive, I am someone, with wounds and scars, someone in progress, I will always be, we all will.

After Christmas all that self revelation was kinda gone, I had family business in the middle and insomnias started hitting me.
I left this blog and its partner instagram aside, I had no content, and no energy to give love to my favourite creatores.

I won't write the posts I had planned for this month, because I do this for free and I don't feel like doing it.

It is weird how I feel like I am living one of the best loving myself moments of my life and at the same time I cry pretty much every day and every so often feel like shit.
I am a mess. A mess that doesn't want to be that messy. As soon as possible I want to be back to my therapist, adjust medication and all that stuff is necessary and this time I love myself too much to let it go.

So here I am a contradiction, high and low, happy and sad, beautiful and broken ...

I think as the month reaches its end I'll be back on not.so.secret.scriptures, I have some content, I want to see the posts I missed but I also want to keep on visiting my personal account because I don't care if people I know personally see my selfies, yap, now I post selfies because I can and I want.

Cheers to every person that learns to love themselves a little bit more everyday, a huge hug to those still processing ... and like I learned this week healing isn't linear, nothing is, with ups and downs I guess I kinda am back.

Love, Joana
And never forget to love yourself if even for just a minute in a day all you could do was crying and feel useless, you're not ๐Ÿค

Favourite characters, we love them. Sometimes they are good sometimes not so much. I wanted to write posts about my favourite characters for a while because a piece of them is always absorbed by me, by the watcher, the reader ... because these characters for me feel like real people...

Carolina Leal (El Internado Laguna Negra)

Carol is my favourite character from my favourite tv series! That is a huge place to stand on my heart. Before Ana de Armas conquered Hollywood she was one of the heroins of El Internado.

Pol Rubio (Merlรญ)

The fuck boy that actually is the most complex and interesting character of one of my fave series. I don't think there is one fan of Merlรญ that doesn't love Pol, for some reason the spin off of the series is about him!

Eva Kviig Mohn (Skam)

I never really cared about identifying with a character, I don't have a need to feel represented in order to get attached to x character. But Eva happened and Skam happened and I felt that I could be that girl, I guess that's why I love her so much, or maybe is just because Eva is amazing, who knows???

Justin Foley (13 reasons why)

Once 13RW was over everyone loved Justin but well may I say that I loved him since the beginning, he never seemed bad in my eyes and I do love a fucked up hot boy. But all the growth he got on the series, wow, definitely best character of 13 reasons why ... Justin Foley you will always be loved ❤

Carla Rosรณn Caleruega (ร‰lite)

Why did they did what they did to her in season 3??? For me Carla was always my favourite character ... moraly grey, seductive, manipulative but wild too ... my queen deserved better than being a toy on her fathers hand on her last season on the show. Love you always Marquesita ๐Ÿ’‹

This kind of post will come back so I hope you liked it ๐Ÿ˜‰

With Taylor's birthday the Taylor Swift Playlistathon comes to an end ... I wasn't able to read 13 books, but I did read 9 that at the moment are the number of albums she has ๐ŸŽ‰
There were some of my fave songs that I just couldn't complete its prompts because I would be obligating myself to read something I didn't want to ... But I am actually very happy with what I did accomplish, so let's wrap this readathon up!

Track 1 - call it what you want (read a book about running away) ๐Ÿ’ฟ

Funny thing I really wanted this song on my playlist but nothing seemed to fit, at the same time I was reading Radio Silence that I actually started on the first day of the readathon and for me it fits perfectly.

Radio silence by Alice Oseman - 3 stars

Track 2 - exile (read a book with dual perspectives) ๐ŸŒž

This book was chosen for 'my tears ricochet' but I think it suited better with exile!

I'll give you the sun by Jandy Nelson - 4 stars

Track 3 - blank space (read any book you want) ๐Ÿ—

This was my choice for 'style' but only the last pages happen in 1980 so I felt like cheating and moved it for the "blank space' prompt.

Marina by Carlos Ruรญz Zafรณn - 4.5 stars

Track 4 - don't blame me (read a book you can't believe you haven't read yet).

Fence Vol.1 by C.S. Pacat and Johanna The Mad - 3.5 stars

Track 5 - august (read a book set during the summer) ⚽️

Running with Lions by Julian Winters - 5 stars

Track 6 - gorgeous (read a book with a gorgeous cover) ๐Ÿ–ค

Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin - 4 stars

Track 7 - my tears ricochet (read a sad book) ๐Ÿ“ป

Sadie by Courtney Summers - 3.5 stars

Track 8 - King of my heart (read a book about royalty) ๐Ÿ‘‘

The Selection by Kiera Cass - 4.5 stars

Track 9 - betty (read a book featuring a love triangle) ๐Ÿ’•

The Elite by Kiera Cass - 4.5 stars

Happy birthday Taylo, thanks for your music and thanks for the hosts of this fun readathon!!!

Here I was checking my regular fave bloggers and White Rose Stories posted about this readathon hosted by Lisa Marie, Daryan, and Kasie and I was like "2 days later but I have to take part in this." I love the concept, I love Taylor Swift and a readathon was just what I was needing to boost my creativity, on the blog, on my journal, and to motivate me to read.

First I decided to choose 13 songs I really wanted on my playlist, but prompts sometimes are messy and Miss Taylor Swift makes only good songs and I am a hell of a mood reader. So I then made a second decision, to present a tbr so I can say "look these are my fave songs from TS" and then a wrap-up post with the playlist that I actually end up creating.

First, let's check my 3 favourite albums to pick some songs from (the following templates are from the readathon Twitter)

1989

My fave: Reputation

Folklore

1- Blank Space: Read any book you want!

I want to fill this one with "Bunny" by Mona Awad but I actually can use this prompt for any book that doesn't fit any other category.

2- Style: Read a book set in the '80s

"Marina" by Carlos Ruรญz Zafรณn, when I realized it was set in the 80's I was so relieved because I had been searching so much.

3- Wildest Dreams: Read a book that inspired a movie

I had quite a few options but "The Age Of Innocence" by Edith Warthon seemed perfect.

4- ... Ready For It? : Read a new release

I downloaded "A Deadly Education" by Naomi Novik

5- Don't Blame Me: Read a book you can't believe you haven't read yet

I mentioned this one so many times already but "La Chica Invisible" by Blue Jeans

6- Gorgeous: Read a book with a gorgeous cover

The Portuguese edition of "Giovanni's Room" by James Baldwin is just gorgeous!!!

7- Getaway Car: Read a book with a car on the cover

I suffered with this one, I even got another free trial on Scribd and I ended up picking up the graphic novel "The Avant-Guards" by Carly Usdin

8- King Of My Heart: Read a book about royalty

"The Selection" by Kiera Cass, is your time to shine!

9- Cardigan: Read a book that gives you fall vibes

I wanted to read "If We Were Villains" by M.L.Rio this Autumn so chosen one!

10- The Last Great American Dynasty: Read a historical fiction book

I found this short historical fiction book "Sweet Days Of Discipline" by Fleur Jaeggy and thought "why not?"

11- My Tears Ricochet: Read a sad book

Will finally read "I'll Give You The Sun" by Jandy Nelson?!

12- August: Read a book set during the summer

August needed to be on the list but I wasn't getting lucky with books set on summer, I didn't found the ones I wanted online so I got one I own "A Room With A View" by E.M Foster

13- Betty: Read a book featuring a love triangle

I decided to go for a re-read: "Honestly Ben" by Bill Konigsberg that I read last year and loved: seemed perfect.

Here's to a month full of good reads and magical Taylor Swift's songs ๐Ÿป

Hello November, wow how far we've gone in this crazy year. Well, October was actually a much better month than I could've imagined. So here it the wrap up of readingwiizard's fall bingo. ๐Ÿ“–

๐Ÿ‚ Stephen King or R.L. Stine* - Right from the beginning I knew I wouldn't complete this prompt, I had no intention of reading any Stephen King or R.L. Stine.

๐Ÿ‚ A book under 150 pages - For this one, I went for my dad comics collection in search of a book that could fill a few prompts, I chose "Le Mystรจre de la Grande Pyramide -1" by Edgar P. Jacobs.

๐Ÿ‚ Read after sunset - I read usually at night so I think pretty much every book I read completed this prompt.

๐Ÿ‚ A spooky title - "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, was not that spooky but many people die in it so yap.

๐Ÿ‚ A gothic novel - "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Brontรซ, what a pleasant surprise, what an amazing book.

๐Ÿ‚ Read under a blanket - I read all of these books under a blanket.

๐Ÿ‚ A fall release - "The Places I've Cried In Public" by Holly Bourne, I had bought this one like two days before the end of October and then I realized that I had finally found my «fall release».

๐Ÿ‚ A book with supernatural elements - Both "Wuthering Heights" and "Hamlet" can fill this one.

๐Ÿ‚ New to you author - Everyone I read this month ???

๐Ÿ‚ A book with black on the cover - My cover of "Wuthering Heights" has blue and black as its main colours.

๐Ÿ‚ A creepy cover* - I did buy books with creepy covers and I do own books with creepy covers but I didn't read any of those.

๐Ÿ‚ One-word title - To be or not to be? - "Hamlet".

๐Ÿ‚ Read on a rainy day - The first half of October was very sunny here in Portugal so I think that just in the last week of the month I read with rain outside.

๐Ÿ‚ A book that is set in fall* - Any of the books I read were set in Autumn.

๐Ÿ‚ A thrifted book - "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart, one of my best friends gave it to me since I wanted to read it and she didn't like and she had bought it second hand.

๐Ÿ‚ A book with orange on the cover - "Le Mystรจre de la Grande Pyramide -1" by Edgar P. Jacobs, orange, orange everywhere.

๐Ÿ‚ Book club/school pick - I read "Wuthering Heights" for the gothic read-along hosted by Claudia Merrill.

๐Ÿ‚ One book in one day - "Le Mystรจre de la Grande Pyramide -1", a comic is always easier to read.

๐Ÿ‚ A comfort read - I re-read "The Foxhole Court" by Nora Sakavic, I can't think of anything more comfort read for me than the All For The Game trilogy.

๐Ÿ‚ A ghost story* - No ghost story but "Wuthering Heights" and "Hamlet" do have ghosts.

๐Ÿ‚ Watch a "book to movie" adaptation - "The Perks of Being A Wallflower" on a movie night with one of my best friends that I waited for so long, she watched Dead Poets Society for the first time and I watched The Perks of being a wallflower for the first time too.

๐Ÿ‚ A graphic novel - "Le Mystรจre de la Grande Pyramide -1" by Edgar P. Jacobs.

๐Ÿ‚ A classic - "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Brontรซ or "Hamlet" by Shakespear.

๐Ÿ‚ 30 pages and a hot drink - "Le Mystรจre de la Grande Pyramide -1", since it is a comic book, 30 pages with a coffee wasn't difficult.

*Challenges not completed.

Have a nice November,

Joana

With love,
