The following text contains spoilers for the first four seasons of This Is Us
The Plot
This Is Us is an American family drama created by Dan Fogelman that premiered on NBC on the 20th of September 2016. The series follows the lives of the Pearson family, the parents, and their three children, in several time frames.
Basic Information
It has 4 seasons, 18 episodes each, and airs its 5th season on the 27th of October, on NBC, with a 2-hour long episode. You can find it on Amazon Prime Video and I believe in some countries on Netflix too.
Favourite character
Jack Pearson (played by Milo Ventimiglia)
I do like the majority of the characters but like many, the one that manages to always own my heart is Jack Pearson. Even though on the first season we all love him because he seems the perfect husband and father it is his flaws that we find out during the other seasons that make him even more special. Jack had a rough life until he meets Rebecca, he has everything to be the textbook broken boy in need to be fixed while hurting everyone around him but with Bec he is able to show his best traits, to be a loveable husband, a devoted father, and someone willing to do everything to make his loved ones happy. The fact that we know since the beginning, pretty much, that he died when the big three were only 17 makes him even more of a loved character. We can always see how he shaped his family, how his family shaped him and we can only wonder what would it be if he was still around.
Honourable mention:

Mandy Moore as Rebecca Pearson |
There are other 3 characters I can't help but give a little of my time to talk about. They are Rebeca Pearson (Mandy Moore), Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) and William Hill (Ron Cephas Jones).
Rebeca often ends on the shadow of "Father or the year" Jack Pearson but she is necessary to make him who he is, they both often work as one, getting what's best of each other out there, there is no doubt that they tried to always give the best to their kids.
Kevin seems a very plain character at first but as seasons go by he grows so much as a person, and we see a very sensitive side to him that I can't help but love. Might be kinda cliché but I love that pretty boy turned into Hollywood star that actually always hidden his feelings but has a heart of gold. By the end of the fourth season, he is my favourite of the big three.
William is just a delight to watch, in flashbacks or in the present, he is such a sensible man, his story is so touching and the way he still makes everything so magical. William is poetry and music, is caring too much and pure kindness, William is the kind of person I wished the world was full of, the kind of person I aim to be, someone that despite its mistakes can only make others smile because of how wonderful its heart is.
My opinion
This is us is the kind of series that I thought I would never watch, let alone binge watch in one week and fall in love with. When I started watching it I already knew Jack would die and how it would happen (thank god otherwise I would've cried even more). I was watching the pilot and I already knew how those apparently strangers' lives would come together and yet I was amazed at how the series connects its timelines.
I think is quite impossible to not love the Pearsons, to not connect to at least one character or one moment. To not see a reflection of our own family sometimes. This Is Us shows as a family that despite all the love fights a lot, faces difficult times and it is so real, at least for me. The story of the Pearson's is often told in little daily events, and that's life, that's family, fighting over everyday life things, having a moment of pure joy just by being together doing the most simple task in the world.
I know it might not be the same for everyone but I think that with so many stories going around in the show, each of us finds a little of our families in there.
Another thing I love about This Is Us are the timelines, the way things in the present are connected to some simple moment decades ago. I love to see the different decades, the past of each character, to see which led them to where they are now.
I have to mention too the way every episode is directed in a different way, they could have followed a formula but every episode its told in different ways.
I think a bunch of characters we can't help but care about and a unique way to tell their stories is definitely what made me fall in love with this show.
It also has an amazing soudtrack and cinematography.
My rating: ★★★★★
